Alessandra DiCienzo

 

Alessandra has been teaching since 1999 and maintains a full time music studio in Niagara Falls, Ontario where she teaches private piano lessons, theory and history from beginner to Associate level, as well as the Music for Young Children® program.  Alessandra graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Music specialization in Music History and has an ARCT in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music.  Currently she is pursuing Graduate Studies in Piano Pedagogy Research at the University of Ottawa.  She is the organist/pianist for St. Patrick’s Church in Niagara Falls where she accompanies two choirs.

Alessandra is the Founder and Director of Beyond Performance Music Festival, a non-competitive festival whose purpose is to help develop and nurture performance techniques for piano and voice students of the Niagara region. 

In 2008, Alessandra was awarded the Tom and Miggsie Lawson National Teacher Travel and Study Scholarship from Conservatory Canada where she was recognized as an outstanding teacher along with five others from across Canada.  She also gives professional development workshops for teachers, most recently for the CFMTA National Convention in Halifax, Nova Scotia and for the Southern Ontario MYC® Conference in Woodstock, Ontario.

Along with fellow colleague Rebecca Goode, Alessandra is the co-author of the beginner piano technique series Take Off! With Technique.  For more information please visit: www.takeoffwithtechnique.com.

She is currently a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association where she has held positions at the local and provincial level.   

When not practicing her cello, Alessandra spends time with her husband Calvin and their pets Wolfie, Scarlett and Ruby.
